What I love most about this work is bringing people together. Storytelling through film and photography is the most collaborative art form, and every project is an opportunity to work with passionate, talented people who bring stories to life together. In 1977, serial rape charges led investigators to Billy Milligan a troubled young man who claimed no memory of the crimes and displayed strikingly shifting behavior. Diagnosed with multiple personality disorder (now dissociative identity disorder), with up to 24 distinct personalities identified, Billy became the first person acquitted of a major crime by reason of insanity on those grounds. Director Olivier Megaton's investigative series revisits the case decades later, interviewing family, doctors, and law enforcement still wrestling with the same question: was Billy a genuine psychological anomaly, or a manipulative sociopath who played the system?
